Terms of Enrolment
Conduct
Music should always be a fun, exciting, positive and fair experience for all of our students. All parents, students and teachers are expected to behave in a respectful and polite manner at all times. As a condition of enrolment at the Buzz Music School, students, parents and all guardians agree to abide by any and all policies set forth by the Buzz Music School and we reserve the right to terminate a student enrolment at any time for any misconduct or failure to abide by these policies.
Should a supervising adult/guardian behave in a way that the teacher/staff believes is unreasonable, then we reserve the right to ask that the family leave the class and building immediately.
Enrolment and classes
Once enrolled at the Buzz Music School, lessons are automatically rolled over to the next month, and ongoing, during state school term dates, and your lesson times are reserved for future school terms and years. If you, or your child, are not wishing to continue for the following month, please give notice to the school director, in writing, asap, and at least 1 week before the next month. If notice is not received as per above, your account will be charged for the future month's lesson until such notice is received.
Please bring water, any required books, accessories (drum sticks, tuner, lead etc) and anything else requested by your teacher to your lesson. This will ensure you get the most out of your lesson time. Please do not bring any other valuables to class.
Payment of lessons
At the start of the calendar year, or when enrolling for the first time, correct contact and enrolment details must be supplied, including valid credit/debit card information. This is to be completed in the secure music school portal. Monthly invoices are automatically charged to your specified card when they are issued on the first of the month in advance.
If for any reason your account is in arrears, your booking may be cancelled and your lessons may not proceed. You still may be charged for this lesson if you did not provide applicable notice.
A $10 payment default fee will be charged to your account if an attempted payment isn’t completed successfully due to insufficient funds or incorrect information.
Drop off and Collection
Please ensure students arrive at least 5 minutes before their scheduled lesson time and wait at the specified waiting area (upstairs, in the provided chairs) for their teacher to collect them. Please ensure parents/guardians are especially on time for collection of students. Teachers cannot wait with students outside the building after-hours for collection. Students under 12 years old not collected on time (especially after hours) will be asked to wait inside the secured building until the teacher can next accompany them out safely.
All children under 12 years old must be supervised at all times by their teacher or guardian and not be left unattended. The teacher cannot be left responsible for any child at any time whilst not in their direct care during a lesson.
Some group lessons for young children require parent participation. If parents aren’t required to participate, they are requested to sit in the waiting room (not in the class) as to not distract the students. All lesson rooms have a viewing window to watch through if you require. If it is your child’s first lesson, please chat to your teacher if you would like to sit in with them.
Siblings are welcome to attend the school and quietly wait for classes from the designated waiting area, but are not permitted to run around the showroom or participate in the classes unless enrolled.
Safety
We are committed to providing a safe workplace for our employees, contractors, students, parents and all visitors to the Buzz Music School. We request all students, parents and guardians observe safe practices at all times and communicate any information that would help improve safety.
All of our music teachers hold a current blue card allowing them to work with children. At times, due to the nature of musical instrument instruction, it may be appropriate to have student-teacher contact to correct technique. This will always be after requesting the permission of the student directly.
Missed Classes
Please let your teacher know if you are unwell or plan to be away. Unfortunately, we cannot automatically issue you a credit for an unexpectedly missed lesson (sick or otherwise). If you are planning to be away for a booked class, please let your teacher or the school director know at least 1 week before the month the absence is intended for, in this case, you will be still be charged for this lesson and also be issued a make-up credit to be booked in as an extra lesson (over and above your usual lesson time) during an available lesson time with your teacher. Please view the Calendar to view potential times for this or chat to your teacher directly.
In the instance your teacher is sick or away, substituting with another teacher will be our first priority. If a substitute teacher is not available, a credit will be applied to your account for the missed class(es) and these fees will automatically be deducted from your next months invoice.
No lessons are automatically booked or charged for during school holidays (unless arranged directly with your teacher), public holidays or extreme weather events when the school is closed.
Media Policy
Private lessons are captured on CCTV for the safety of our teachers and students. At public events/performances you will be requested permission on a case-by-case basis if photo’s or videos are captured to be shared on social media. Please do not take images or videos or post on social media any other children, without the consent of their parent/ guardian.
