Buzz Music School – Terms of Enrolment

Conduct

Music should always be a fun, positive, safe and respectful experience for everyone involved.

All students, parents, guardians, teachers and visitors are expected to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner at all times. As a condition of enrolment at Buzz Music School, families agree to comply with all school policies.

Buzz Music School reserves the right to suspend or terminate a student’s enrolment at any time in the event of misconduct, unsafe behaviour, or failure to comply with these policies.

If a supervising adult or guardian behaves in a manner that staff believe is unreasonable, disruptive or unsafe, Buzz Music School reserves the right to request that the family leave the class and/or the building immediately.

Enrolment & Ongoing Lessons

Enrolment at Buzz Music School is ongoing.

Once enrolled, lessons automatically roll over month-to-month during Queensland state school terms, and your lesson time is reserved for future terms and years.

If you or your child do not wish to continue lessons, written notice must be provided to the Music School Director at least one week before the start of the next month. If notice is not received within this timeframe, fees for the upcoming month will be charged.

Lessons are not automatically scheduled or charged during:

  • School holidays
  • Public holidays
  • Extreme weather events when the school is closed

Unless alternative arrangements are made directly with your teacher.

Students are expected to bring all required materials to each lesson, including water, books, accessories (e.g. drumsticks, tuner, leads) and any items requested by their teacher. Please do not bring unnecessary valuables to lessons.

Payment of Lessons

All enrolments require valid and up-to-date contact details and credit/debit card information to be entered into the secure student portal.

Lesson fees are billed monthly in advance and automatically charged on or around the 1st of each month.

If an account falls into arrears:

  • Lessons may be suspended or cancelled
  • Fees may still be charged if applicable notice was not provided

A $10 payment default fee will be applied if a payment fails due to insufficient funds or incorrect card details.

Drop-Off & Collection

Students should arrive at least 5 minutes prior to their scheduled lesson time and wait in the designated upstairs waiting area until collected by their teacher.

Parents and guardians must collect students promptly at lesson end time.

Teachers cannot supervise students outside the building after hours.

Students under 12 years of age who are not collected on time (especially after hours) will be required to wait inside the secured building until it is safe for a staff member to accompany them out.

Children under 12 must not be dropped off unattended. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervision before and after lessons. Teachers are only responsible for students during the scheduled lesson time.

For some group lessons involving young children, parent participation may be required. If participation is not required, parents are asked to wait in the designated waiting area rather than inside the lesson room. Viewing windows are available in all rooms.

Siblings are welcome to wait quietly in the designated waiting area but must not run around the premises or participate in lessons unless enrolled.

Safety & Wellbeing

Buzz Music School is committed to providing a safe environment for students, staff, parents and visitors.

All teachers hold a current Blue Card for working with children.

Due to the nature of music instruction, limited physical guidance may occasionally be required to assist with technique. This will only occur with the student’s consent and in an appropriate, professional manner.

Families are encouraged to communicate any information that may assist us in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

Missed Lessons & Make-Up Credits

Students must notify their teacher and manage absences via the student portal if they are unable to attend a scheduled lesson.

Unexpected absences (including illness) are charged and do not automatically receive a credit.

Planned absences must be advised in advance, minimum 24 hours, in which the absence occurs. In this case:

  • The lesson will still be charged
  • A make-up credit will be issued
  • Credits must be used as an additional lesson, subject to teacher availability

Only one make-up credit may be held at any time.

If a teacher is unavailable, we will attempt to arrange a substitute teacher. If a substitute is not available, a credit will be applied to the account and deducted from the following month’s invoice.

Media & Privacy

Lesson rooms are monitored by CCTV for the safety of students and staff.

At public events or performances, permission will be requested on a case-by-case basis for photos or videos to be shared on social media.

Parents and guardians must not photograph, film, or share images or videos of other students without the consent of their parent or guardian.

Waiver & Release

Participation in music lessons involves minimal inherent risks, including (but not limited to) exposure to sound levels and physical movement associated with playing instruments.

By enrolling, parents and guardians consent to Buzz Music School staff providing basic first aid and seeking emergency medical assistance if required.

Families agree to indemnify and hold harmless Buzz Music School, its employees, contractors and agents from any claims, losses, damages or liabilities arising from participation in music lessons, except where required by law.
